TiP fOr TuEsDaY (post 234)

J. Lamb 2011
On the subject of time management, I mean who am I kidding? Sometimes no matter how well you manage your time, there just isn't enough of it! Today is absolutely one of those days for me as well...*sigh*. My daughter has her last choir concert this evening as well as a soccer game...yep, clear on the other side of town. As of 3:30 this afternoon I will be running like a chicken with my head cut off until at least 8. Honestly, I'm tired just thinking about it! Ugh. I did, however in anticipation of having such a crazy day, put together a list of links for some time management help, enjoy!:

"For some mothers, the constant pressure to be wife, mommy, chef, and chauffeur takes over every minute of the day."  "Going forward, it's important for Wecksler, and other busy mothers, to remember the following three tips to live by.
Combine Several Activities: While showering, make a mental list of things that you need to do that day. If you are watching a sitcom, you can pay your bills at the same time.
Learn to Say No: If someone asks you to do something, and you want to do it, but truly do not have time, learn how to politely say no. That will free up time for what is most important.
Don't Attempt to Do Too Much: Many people feel that they have to accomplish everything yesterday and don't give themselves enough time to do things properly. This leads only to half-finished projects and no feeling of achievement"

About.com Stress Management, Time Management Tips for Moms

"Time management is a big concern for mothers these days. Between kids’ activities, household responsibilities and, for many, the demands of a stressful workplace, many mothers have given up on the fight to find time for themselves and are just trying to get everything done."
"While taking care of parental, relationship, household and workplace responsibilities, it’s easy for mothers put taking care of themselves last on the list. However, not only is self-care a good idea of physical and emotional health, it’s a good time management tip for moms as well."

Busy Moms Online, Time Management Tips

"If you are like most moms I know you think to yourself, at least once a day, “I wish I had more time!” Most of my clients come to me at some point asking how they can get more hours in the day."

"Get rid of what I call “black holes” or time wasters. Things like TV, checking your email every 5 minutes, online or computer games, and phone calls from chatty friends can be fun but they are also HUGE time wasters."

                                                    Chic on the Cheap!

For the last couple of weeks, my TiP fOr TuEsDaY articles have been focused on making the most of your wardrobe. Imagine how excited I was when I opened my Good Housekeeping magazine for April 2011 and they had an entire article to dedicated to just that!

Wardrobe Basics: How to Wear 8 Pieces 30 Different Ways

The article shows how you can take 8 basic pieces and wear them 30 different ways and I love, love the concept! For years this has been my focus of shopping (for myself and my kids included) to buy good basics that you can pair with a few fun things and keep your look fresh! The article works with a navy dress, a nautical striped tee, a red shell (sleeveless blouse), a red cardigan, a white blouse, dark denim jeans, a khaki suit, and a white skirt. Let me see what I have of these in my wardrobe....
White shirt, red tank (pretty close) and dark denim jeans

Pink cardigan (again, pretty close), striped shirt, and nice khaki chinos

Navy dress

I know, I know...no white skirt or a khaki suit either. I guess I'll be on the look out for both! Imagine the possibilities though...navy dress with striped shirt, or white shirt over the top, or dark denim and cardigan and striped shirt, or...or...great stuff! Thank you Good Housekeeping for your inspiration this TiP fOr TuEsDaY!

Sharpies!!!

Top o' the Monday to you folks! I seemed to have survived the Super Bowl madness, here's hoping you did too! It took me a little while to think of something worth featuring on my tHiS iS wHaT i LiKe segment today, ah...but, good things come to those that wait! Sharpies make my life infinitely easier and definitely more fun. You can ask my family, "What does Mom carry around in here purse?" Well, honestly...gum wrappers, allergy pills, feminine hygiene products...oh, and a Sharpie! I couldn't tell you the countless reasons why a Sharpie comes in so handy...but, I'll try anyway!;0)
When my kids were little it never failed that they would get similar toys and then fight over them, not with a little Sharpie action and an initial or name or the bottom! Sharpies for art projects are a no-brainer! What with all the vibrant colors and long lasting goodness, you've got it made!
See? My sneakers were brought to life via the magic Sharpie! My kids love them for temporary tattoo art (actually, I do too!), I love that a quick name on a cup or bottle eliminates waste and the "is this one mine?" questions. There's a pretty cool site for ideas and projects people have made here at sharpieuncapped.com, check it out!
Sharpies rock! I have a birthday coming up and someone can get me the 80's glam pack featured above...just a suggestion! You know tHiS iS wHaT i LiKe! ;0)

Your heart. Swells with love for those you choose, aches with sorrow for those we lose. Beats to continue your life in this realm, given to share with those you call friend. Broken a thousand times over and expandable to no end, your heart is just one so, take care of it friends. In honor of Women's Heart Health day, I am wearing red and encouraging women everywhere to take care of their hearts. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women and being aware of this and taking care of yourself is essential. Just a thought...;0)

Dearfoam Slippers!
Happy to the Monday peeps! I trust everyone survived the weekend intact? I trust this should be the case if you are reading this, so here's another round tHiS iS wHaT i LiKe!: My trusty Dearfoam slippers!
I find myself within the confines of my house frequently these days, due to lack of funds more than anything, and in keeping our heating costs as low as possible it isn't the toastiest of places. No complaints though, you can easily keep the temp at 68 if you are willing to dress appropriately. In a house with all hard surfaced floors, keeping your tootsies warm is essential! That's where my favoritist fuzzy foot covers come into action! I love my Dearfoam slippers, especially the fuzzy scuffs! I am sporting a pair of them as we speak, just like the one's pictured above (in purple though, if you must know!). I had a different pair for about 6 years that I loved so much, that they finally starting giving out on me and my man came to the rescue with this pair for Christmas! I wear them in the house, they accompany me as we shuttle children to school in the morning as well and nothing beats the squishy soft comfort after wandering around in heals all day! I love that if they get dirty, just toss them in with your laundry and they are fresh and clean again!
Are you looking for an extra comfy, durable, fuzzy pair of slippers? Well, you're in luck! Dearfoams rock! This is definitely what I like! ;0)

Technical difficulties...

It seems my computer has caught a cold, one generated by the use of AdSense on my sight. This isn't the first one I've caught from it either, so I have removed it form my page. Thankfully I have the ABC Rent@Geek at my disposal! (Thank you baby!) and I should be able to be up running tomorrow! Silly viruses anyway...bleh. ;0(
